I Samuel 7:12
“Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.””
I Samuel 7:12 NKJV
This verse reminds us to reflect on God's faithfulness in the past and trust in His continued help in the future. It's a call to remember God's past provisions and to acknowledge Him as the source of our strength and victory.
This verse serves as a reminder to regularly acknowledge and remember God’s help in our lives. Setting up our own “Ebenezers” can take many forms, whether it’s journaling about answered prayers, sharing testimonies, or simply pausing to give thanks.
Remembering what God has done builds our faith and encourages us to trust Him for whatever lies ahead.
This verse teaches us that it’s important to mark moments when God intervenes, not only for our own encouragement but also to declare to others that God is our helper.
We are to be a people who celebrate God’s work in our lives. The generation which came out of Egypt forgot all God had done for them, and we ought not to repeat the error. We must remember. We must set down the Ebenezer stone, so to speak, and declare with joy how far God has taken us.
From time to time it is good to set down our own Ebenezer stone, to celebrate God's faithfulness up to this point in our lives. The cross of Christ should turn us into a most grateful people, so sometimes we must stop and consider how good God has been to deliver us thus far.
Would you just let that soak in, in your life right now? The Lord God is your helper. He is there with you right now, amidst whatever you’re walking through in your life to help you. He’s there to give you everything you need as you walk with Him. He’s there to give you everything you need as you worship and trust in Him so that you can look back at this day and the next day.
Amidst whatever you’re walking through, and you can raise an Ebenezer, a stone in a sense, in that place at that time and say, “The Lord helped me.” And He will help us. He promises to help us all the way home, all the way until the day when we see His face.
These Ebenezer stones have a great value in our Christian walk. When we are under great testing it is good to see the Ebenezer stones along the path, and realize that God has brought us through every hard experience.
The consistent help of the Lord in the past stands as a monument to the faithfulness of God to see us through!!!
Father thank You for this day and the blessing of life we have in You. Lord let Your abundant blessings be my friend and family’s portion today. Lord we place at your feet those things we have held onto for too long and we confess, like the Israelites, we have sinned against You and You alone. Lord thank You for forgiving us and we will set up a memorial of praise to You as a remembrance for the millions of battles You have already won on our behalf. Lord use my friend to be the light of Your love to all today. Be a blessing.
Father, we love You. Amen !
