Scripturally remember

‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭12‬-‭15

“So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things.”

‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭12‬-‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Peter thought it necessary to remind his readers. They were firmly established in the truth yet he took time to put pen to paper to reinforce what they already knew. Being reminded helps us focus on the important things and helps us keep things in perspective. There are many ways we do this. Often the songs we sing remind us of God’s attributes, reminding us of Jesus death and the price He paid for our sins. Taking communion reminds us of Jesus death and resurrection. Sermons, books, teaching tapes may teach us more about God but often they start by reminding us of what we already know. Let us take to heart these words of wisdom and Peter's important reminder to establish ourselves in the truth of the glorious gospel of Christ and not to neglect our Christian growth or spiritual maturity, which is equally important for us today as it was when he first penned his epistle. Peter's heart desire was to establish believers in the gospel of Christ so that we diligently add virtue to our faith and supplement our virtue with moral character, perseverance, godliness, kindliness and brotherly love. He determined to remind us about the truth of the glorious gospel of grace and of our responsibility to mature in our spiritual walk and to be firmly grounded on the Word of truth. Peter's longing was that men and women of God would make their calling and election sure knowing that when we practice the truth of the Word of God and establish it in our everyday Christian lives, we will have what we need to not stumble or fall but will become firmly established in the Word of truth, which we have received. We must be established in the belief of the truth, that we may not be shaken by every wind of doctrine and especially in the truth necessary for us to know in our day, what belongs to our peace, and what is opposed in our time. The body is but a tabernacle, or tent, of the soul. It is a movable dwelling. The nearness of death makes the apostle diligent in the business of life. Nothing can so give composure in the prospect, or in the hour, of death, as to know that we have faithfully and simply followed the Lord Jesus, and sought His glory. Those who fear the Lord, talk of His loving-kindness. This is the way to spread the knowledge of the Lord and by the written word, they are enabled to do this. This aged apostle determined to remind us about the truth of the glorious gospel of grace and of our responsibility to mature in our spiritual walk and to be firmly grounded on the Word of truth!!!

Father thank You for this day and the Word of life that guides us and the Holy Spirit that gives revelation of it. Lord let Your abundant blessings be my friend and family’s portion today. Lord establish us we pray in Your Word and the truth that it contains. Lord we pray that in Christ we may grow in grace and in a knowledge of Him. Lord we pray that we may be diligent to add virtue to our faith and supplement it with moral character, perseverance, godliness, kindliness and brotherly love to Your praise and glory. Lord use us today to love others as You love them. Daddy we love You amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
