Romans 5:18-21
“Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 5:18-21 NIV
How amazing that, even though one man's disobedience leads to condemnation, the obedience of Jesus acquits us, makes us righteous and leads to life!
Many like to bemoan the fact that we are made sinners because of Adam's sin. Many feel it is unfair that we have to inherit the sin nature from our forefathers, because of their sin, but this is failure to recognize God's incredible grace in His simple plan for man's redemption.
For as by one sin we were all made sinners so by one act of obedience we can all be declared righteous and receive justification of life. It was Adam's one sin that rendered us sinners and inputed us with a sin nature so too by Christ's one act of obedience we are declared righteous and receive justification of life by faith in Him.
By His one act of obedience we are inputed with Christ's righteousness and it is ours simply by faith by believing in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting.
It was by God's grace that Adam's condemnation rested on one single act of disobedience in order that by God's grace man's redemption could also rest on act of obedience one single act of sacrifice which made possible the justification of all who will believe.
All who are born in Adam are eternally condemned and all who are born-again in Christ are not condemned but declared righteous by God and given eternal life for there is no condemnation to those that are in Christ.
The wages of being in Adam is death for by one man's transgression we are all made sinners but the gift of God is eternal life for those that are in Christ, for His one act of righteousness results in justification of life for all who believe. By faith we are placed in eternal union with Christ the God-Man Who is our kinsman-Redeemer and the federal Head of God's New Creation.
Praise God that no matter how much sin we have, grace is so much greater! Itʻs not just one grace for one wrong but it’s peace and justification for all of our wrongs for all time. Our multitudinous sins + Jesus’ sacrifice = Heaven.
The math doesn’t make sense except if we remember that God so loved us that He sent His Son to save us. If He would do that while we were still sinners, how much more grace through our Christ who lives!!!
Father thank You for this day and Your amazing plan of redemption, that we are not only justified but have justification of life, that we are not only declared righteous and forgiven of my sins but have been given Christ's resurrection life made one with Him, positioned in Him, accepted in the Beloved and placed in eternal union with Him for ever and ever. Lord open up the floodgates of heaven and rain down Your abundant blessings over my friend and family today. Lord use my friend to be someone’s today.
Father, we love You. Amen !
