Rejoice in God’s goodness

1 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬-‭5

“For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.”

‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This flies in the face of beliefs that say that spiritual things are good while material things, the world around us is bad. When God looked upon His creation on the seventh day, He said it was “very good”. We are called to consecrate, or set apart, God’s creation for His purposes and not our own. This understanding will not just affect our view of food, it will also guide our prayers and activity toward every realm of life. Nothing is beyond His ability to restore back to its original goodness. God is great, God is good, let us thank Him for our food. That prayer, often spoken by small children before they eat, may seem simple, yet thankfulness is something we often struggle with even as adults. How often have we stopped and thanked God for the air we breathe, the abilities we have, or the body we have been given? Of course, gratefulness does not just manifest itself in words but becomes part of our lives. When we truly understand the gifts God has given us, it leads us to a desire to serve Him. Then, as we meditate on the Gospel and the fact that Jesus died on our behalf’s  so that ww could be forgiven, it should cause us to give our all for Him. Knowing that it can be difficult in our busy lives to stop and focus on all that we are blessed with, but when we take the time to, it will impact our lives profoundly. We are to seek godly discernment and a heart of thanksgiving and praise. For though we live in this fallen world and although there are governmental laws to which we must adhere as instituted by God, we are also to remember that not everything we are taught in institutions of learning or from the pulpits of certain churches, line up with the Word of God. The ultimate authority comes from the Scripture, and when preachers, teachers, institutions, or religious bodies teach things that are contrary to that which is written in the Word of God, we should question the legitimacy of their words and hold fast to the Word of truth. As we focus on the goodness of God and His provision for our lives and our salvation, we are humbled and put in the perfect place to be used by God. Even in our times of hardship, when we stand back and view, we get a glimpse of God’s eternal perspective which leads us to rejoice, once again, in our King!!!

Father thank You for this day and that You have graciously allowed us to have access to the Word of God and the truth it contains. Lord let Your abundant blessings flow over my friend and family today. Lord give us wisdom to stand on the foundation of truth and knowing that all good and perfect things come from You. Lord we give You grateful thanks and praise today. Lord thank You for our friends and family. Lord we are grateful for Your love, Your mercy and the gift of eternal life through Jesus. Lord thank You for the blessings of life. Lord help my friend and I to have a thankful heart and to share this gratefulness with others today. Daddy we love you amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
