“Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if only you would hear his voice,”
Psalms 95:1-2, 6-7 NIV
God calls us to come and worship Him. He wants us to sing to the rock of our salvation. Make a joyful noise as we praise the Lord. God does not merely want us to sing. God wants us to make melody in our hearts to the Him. The strings of the heart are to be strummed. Singing is the outpouring of our heart to God, an expression of our praise and thanksgiving. When we suggest that we do not like singing or do not see the point in it we are going directly against God desire for us to sing praises to him. We are failing to grasp that song is the outflow of the heart. We need to appreciate even come into the presence of the Lord. We must recognize that it was the blood of His Son that allows us to be called into His presence to worship. Without the blood of Christ, we stand on the outside of the tabernacle of God, separated from the worship. With messianic hope we come into the presence of God and sing joyfully to the rock of our salvation. There are three reasons the psalmist gives for worshiping God. First, the Lord is a great God and a great King above all gods. God deserves worship because of who He is. Second, we should worship God because all creation is His. God made everything. He owns in all, including us. Third, we must bow down and worship because we are His sheep and He is OUR God. Worship is more than our heart, soul and words offered to God. It also involves our posture. When we understand the grace God has given us to be called His children, what else can we do but bow down or kneel before Him in His majesty and might. We come to Him, a conquering ruler, offering ourselves in full submission. God chooses, however, to treat us tenderly like a loving shepherd who longs to care for us. Such grace leads us to bow and kneel in heartfelt worship. May we know the love and care of our great Shepherd, and may we grow in our love for Him and worship Him!!!
Father thank You for this day and we want to worship You truly. Lord let Your abundant blessings flow over my friend and family today. Lord Help us to become aware of the humble nature of real worship, where You are at the center of its purpose, and that we are merely Your servants. Lord we come to You seeking Your protection and rest as one of your sheep. Lord we often find ourselves hurried and driven by life's pressures and temptations but we come to You submitting ourselves to be used for Your glory. Lord use my friend to be a bold witness of Your saving grace to all today. Daddy we love you amen. Be a blessing. Love you !
Happy 4th of July to you and your family !!
