Psalms‬ 84:1-2, 11-12

“How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.”

Psalms‬ 84:1-2, 11-12‬ NIV‬‬

This passage speaks to my heart in two different ways. The first concerns the gathering of the saints on Sunday mornings. I know that God does not dwell in the building we meet in, in any special sense. But where God’s people are gathered, and when we gather in His name, He is there with us that is His promise. And I find joy in that gathering and special experience of God’s presence. But this passage also speaks to an even greater longing. The longing to be more fully in God’s presence. A longing that will be unfulfilled while living in the flesh on this earth. But that will be fulfilled in that eternal life that God has called us to and even now is preparing us for. In the words of a recent song, I can only image what it will be like when I stand in God’s presence. How awesome and amazing that will be. And the older I get, and closer to that time, the more I long for it. Jesus is worthy of our trust. We can trust Him when He answers in the way we desire or when He chooses another outcome. If He said it, He will do it. If He promised, He will make good on it. If things do not go our way, we can trust in a way that is higher than ours. Trust is highly personal and individual. We can describe trust to one another. We can read about it in His Word. We can sing about it corporately with a body of believers. But in the middle of the night, when circumstances are bleak, when we are alone and afraid and tired of the fight, will we trust Him? Trust is born, nurtured, and solidified inside of a relationship. When we commit to Jesus for the long haul, when we are faithful to Him exclusively, when we cling to Him, trust grows. When we obey the things He asks, He goes ahead of us. He stands ready to meet us with His power and presence. He provides everything that we need and even things we did not know we needed. He holds our hands. He shares His secrets. He ministers side by side with us. He holds our hearts, and His love never ends. Take a risk, take a step, and watch Him reward your trust!!!

Father thank You for this day and Your life changing Word. Lord let Your abundant blessings flow from the windows of heaven over my friend and family today. Lord You are the source of life and light and protection. Lord You are the source of grace and favor and all honor. Lord You know how to take care of Your own, and You know who is trying to walk in faith. Lord remind us during our trials that You help and favor those who put their total trust in You with a whole heart. Lord we pledge allegiance to the You , and we will seek to follow Your example. Lord use my friend to be a example of Your mercy and grace to all today. Daddy we love you amen. Be a blessing. Love you !
