Colossians 3:15-17
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:15-17, NIV
Often how we approach God as our heavenly Father, we ask, ask, and ask because we know He cares. Unfortunately, we don't always make the time to praise Him for who He is and thank Him for what He's done. Eventually, this will lead to a me-centered attitude in our relationships with others, our relationship with God, and how we approach every arena of our life.
Our gratitude produces the peace of Christ that passes all understanding that supports our spiritual growth, along with the church's health, hope, and connectedness. We must allow the Word of God to impact us, live in us, and referee us so we can live joyfully, worship God, and love others more effectively. Christ is the one who has to empower us not only to save us but also so we can trust in Him for holy living.
With the understanding of what Christ did for us, we can have the hope and confidence to trust and obey Him. These are the attributes that produce character and spiritual maturity that in turn show that we are representatives of Christ. This total life transformation will not only change us from the inside out but also allow us to have an impact on others for the kingdom. We need to permit the Holy Spirit to be our guide, the one who reveals sin in our lives that needs to be confessed, the one who opens our hearts and minds to the treasures in Scripture, and the one who gives us the desire and the power to do the will of God.
Remember, we belong to Christ; hence, we bear the name Christian. We are His ambassadors in this time and place. Many times, we are the only Bible people see. So the question today is what will they see when we are in our home, neighborhood, workplace, classroom, at the store, etc. What will they see when we encounter trials and tribulations?
May we with one accord let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts day by day and moment by moment, for it is to this that the body in Christ has been called. And let us in all things be thankful!!!
Father, thank You for this day and the breath of life that is Your Word. Lord, let Your abundant blessings flow from the windows of heaven over us and our family today. Lord, let Your peace rule in our hearts, and let us be at peace in His one body. Lord, fill our hearts and mouths with overflowing thanksgiving. Lord, dwell in us richly, and teach and admonish each of us in all wisdom. Lord, help us to impart grace through the songs flowing from our thankful hearts. Lord, may we honor You in all we say and do, and we pray that we may grow more like You in our dealings with others today. Lord, use us to be the touch of Your love to all today.
Father, we love You. Amen.
