Isaiah 59:15-21
“Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey. The Lord looked and was displeased that there was no justice. He saw that there was no one, he was appalled that there was no one to intervene; so his own arm achieved salvation for him, and his own righteousness sustained him. He put on righteousness as his breastplate, and the helmet of salvation on his head; he put on the garments of vengeance and wrapped himself in zeal as in a cloak. According to what they have done, so will he repay wrath to his enemies and retribution to his foes; he will repay the islands their due. From the west, people will fear the name of the Lord, and from the rising of the sun, they will revere his glory. For he will come like a pent-up flood that the breath of the Lord drives along. “The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,” declares the Lord. “As for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the Lord. “My Spirit, who is on you, will not depart from you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants—from this time on and forever,” says the Lord.”
Isaiah 59:15-21 NIV
God was displeased and appalled that His people are in such blatant rebellion and have no one to lead them back to him. They have been crushed by their enemies, and they are without hope, spiritually and physically. So, God decides to act. He moves with fury and might against His people's enemies. Then He promises to send His Redeemer. From that moment on, God's Spirit and God's words will rest with His people forever. As was often the case, such prophecies had double fulfillments. One was in Old Testament times and another, in New Testament times. Jesus is this Redeemer, and the work of the Spirit brings the dawning of God's kingdom. While we live in difficult times for the followers of Jesus, we also live under the promise that God's Spirit will not depart from us and that the Spirit's presence assures us that God's words will not be taken from us. Once God puts His presence on a person, He does not leave of His own choosing. The only way God will leave, is if that person tells Him to leave and walks away. Even after that, God is constantly trying to get back with His lost child. God holds true to His promises, and one of those promises is that He will always be with you. Jesus restated that same promise as He was getting ready to leave the earth. Repentance must come before blessing. No one who refuses to turn from his sin will be saved, he will not be delivered from the wrath to come until he has repented and turned to God. Today, God is reminding all of humanity that a new beginning begins with Him today through Jesus, and it can start right now. Yes, new beginnings for all who would humbles themselves under the mighty hand of God, admit their sins and turn to God for salvation, God will do it for you. The good news that God is offering today is the fact that Jesus has taken upon Himself, all of our sins. Yes, our past has nothing to do with His mercy and goodness that He is offering on today. No, your past does not matter. It does not matter who you are or what you have done in the past, God is willing to offer you salvation on today. Today, God is offering freedom through Christ Jesus to all who would believe, repent and come to Jesus. Today is your day. My prayer is that this would be the day that you would take God up on His offer of salvation to you. The reminder to all of us on today is, tomorrow is not promised. But you can rest assured of His presence in your life. Keep your eyes on Him and keep yourself aware of His presence each day!!!
