Guided Light

Psalms‬ ‭119‬:‭105

”Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.“ ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119‬:‭105‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When we long to know the way, we can choose to trust God will guide us through. Today is here, and so is He. We have a choice to place our trust in God even if, especially if, we can’t gauge our feelings. God is the One who navigates, who guides, who makes His goodness known. And that is a fact to hold on to.

Have you ever been walking somewhere at night with a flashlight and then suddenly the battery dies and the light goes out. For a moment panic sets in. But if you wait a moment or two your eyes will adjust to the dark and you will be able to see enough to continue, depending on your circumstances. As your eyes adjust you can actually see things you could not with the flashlight as it is bright but only in a small focused area.

The same applies to this scripture in the Psalms. Apart from God we are walking in the dark, spiritually speaking, and can only see a short distance in front of us. As we come to trust in Jesus and follow in His footsteps our path becomes easier to see and we learn from the Scriptures how we should live and treat others.

In time our heart becomes more like His.  We can see things never seen before as the Holy Spirit speaks to our heart and mind. God’s Word is alive with everything we need so we can see in the spiritual darkness that surrounds us. We also become like a lighthouse to those stranded in that darkness and can offer hope like a beacon of light in the midst of a storm.

The Bible truly illuminates our path to the Father.  But we first must be willing to put down our flashlight and allow Him to adjust our spiritual eyes to see in a light that’s better than the one we have known. For God’s Word to be a lamp for our feet and a light for our path it needs to be inside of us, a part of us. That happens as we read, study, memorize, and share God’s Word.

In the book of Job, he said he needed God’s Word more than he needed food. A regular diet of God’s Word will fill your life with more of God’s light.  As you walk around through the spiritual darkness of this world you will see the light of God shining out of you and guiding you.

The Word of God is our Christian life support, our sustaining power, our oxygen tank, our feeding tube, our guiding light and our eternal hope of glory.

Without the light of God's Word we will continue to stumble in the dark. We will never make it to our destination because we will not be able to see our way out of where we are. We need the light of God's Word that illuminates our path!!!

Father, thank You for this day and the gift of the Holy Spirit. Lord, open the storehouses of heaven and let Your abundant blessings flow over my friend and family today. Thank You for giving us Your truth in Scripture. Lord, to know that You love us enough to communicate in language so we can hear and read Your message is truly awe inspiring. Please make our hearts hunger for Your truth revealed in Your Word. Lord, use us to be the light of Your love to those lost in darkness.

Father, we love You. Amen !
