2 Corinthians 2:14
“But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.”
2 Corinthians 2:14 NIV
Have you ever come into your house when something really tasty is baking? In my opinion, there’s nothing better than the smell of chocolate chip cookies baking. Your mouth waters just thinking about eating one of those tasty cookies. You can’t wait until they are finished baking and you can sink your teeth into one of those warm cookies. That’s a lot like what today’s Bible verse is telling us. God leads us to victory in every situation we face. We know that we’re always going to come out on the other side a victor because of who lives on the inside of us. This constant victory is like baking cookies. It makes us smell good to those around us. As Christians who know their place in Christ, we give off an awesome scent that makes others hungry for Jesus. In this verse Paul was reminding the Corinthians that each of them was a spoil of the war that Jesus had won. Each of us who make Jesus our Lord and Savior have become captives in the best possible way, slaves to a true King who doesn’t lead us to death, but to everlasting life. As we walk behind King Jesus the rest of the world will see His glory through our lives, which can often look like the suffering of a prisoner. Yet we know that even if we are slaves of Christ, we are truly free. Paul's bold confession of God's sufficient grace and victory over every issue he faced, gave witness to a life that had died to self and lived only for Christ. It demonstrated Paul to be a man who followed in the footsteps of the Lord Jesus Himself Who lived in total dependence on His Father by presenting his life as a living sacrifice, a freewill offering, a burnt offering that is holy and acceptable unto God. Paul explains that when we are able to continue to trust God even during those tough times when we are pressed out of measure, tossed about by every possible difficulty and danger and attacked by the enemy of our souls, then our life becomes a sweet aroma to the Lord, such that the spreading of the glorious gospel of Christ becomes the wonderful consequence of a life consecrated to God. What do you smell like today? Is that question too personal? Not to God. Paul says we are warriors returning from conquest with the smell of victory incense permeating our presence. To those who see us and know us, this aroma points them to God and His victory over our wills and His victory for us over death. We are God's conquest and conquerors. Let's live surrendered to His will, displaying His grace and victory in our lives!!!
Father thank You for this day and that no matter what we may have to face in life, that in Christ we are always led to victory. Lord let Your abundant blessings flow like a river over my friend and family today. Lord we pray that as we rest in You, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, that we may always be led in triumph to Your praise and glory. Lord may our lives be a living sacrifice, a burnt offering that becomes as sweet-smelling perfume of the knowledge of You in every place You may choose to send us today. Lord use us today to be a living epistle of Your Word to all today. Daddy we love You amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
