Psalms 119:30-32
“I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws. I hold fast to your statutes, Lord; do not let me be put to shame. I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding.” Psalms 119:30-32 NIV
As Christians we, too, have chosen the way of truth and need to set our heart on the Law of God. We live in a time when the laws of our countries may not necessarily be in accordance with the Word of God. In situations like this, we must be obedient to the Word of God in spite of what is legal in our country.
Then, look at the result. God sets our hearts free and we run in the path of His commands. God grants us freedom in Him and relief from the circumstances that surround us. The more we learn and study God's Word and, by His grace, walk in obedience to His Word, our lives are filled with joy and peace, even in the midst of sorrow. There is no way we will run in the way of God’s commandments until our heart has been first warmed to love God, and this is the work of God. This commitment is not half-hearted. This is not half-thinking about disobeying our Father. We will run in the way of God’s commandments when God enlarges our heart. Life is about choices. We choose every day how we are going to live. We choose whether or not we are going to serve the Lord and to what degree we are going to do it. We choose whether or not we are going to trust the Lord and to what extent. We choose whether or not we are going to take seriously our relationship with the Lord or play games with Him. We make choices and then we exercise our wills. The more determined we are, the more likely we are to live out our choices. If we determine in our hearts to follow the Lord and obey him, He will help us to do it. We make choices, and then we live with our choices. Our lives are the fruit of our choices and reflect the condition of our hearts. The Lord judges the heart and will not look away from the heart that chooses to disobey Him. We choose every day whom we will serve that day. We are responsible for our choices and we must proclaim in such a way that both the truth of God’s sovereignty and the reality of our responsibility is proclaimed. But truly, we will only be put far away from falsehood, choose faithfulness, and run in the way of God’s commandments if He first circumcises our hearts of stone!!!
