Examined

 ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭10

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

A lot of people seem to believe that on the Day of Judgment, all of their good deeds will be weighed against all of their sins to see whether or not they have been good enough to be saved. The words here should be perfectly understandable on their surface. The verse is not speaking to unbelievers at all. They will receive a different judgment, one of condemnation. The judgment of this verse is one of salvation. Paul is motivated by the awareness of this coming judgment, and he wants his readers to be motivated by it, as well. God's grace to us in forgiving sin does not mean He's careless about how Christians live our earthly lives. We will stand before Him and be held to account for our choices. That accountability does not affect our eternal destiny. It declares our time as spent well or foolishly, courageously or cowardly, in faith or in spiritual blindness and selfishness. The consequences of reward or reprimand in that moment will be genuinely pleasurable and or painful, based on the choices we have made in our bodies on this side of eternity. We will not be judged for our sins, for our sin was judged at the Cross. Christ took the punishment for our sins so that by grace through faith in Him, we might be forgiven of our sins. The punishment that we deserve was poured out on the Lord Jesus, in our stead. Jesus paid the full price for our sin and for the sin of the whole world so that whosoever believes on Him might not perish, but have everlasting life. Nevertheless, we will be judged not for our sin but on how we lived our lives. Each of us is to receive recompense for the good deeds we carried out, during our sojourn on earth. Good works, works of righteousness which are carried out by our new-man in Christ in submission to the Spirit of God, will be rewarded. However, bad deeds, works of unrighteousness that were undertaken by the old sin nature, will suffer a loss of reward. We will not be asked to give evidence for one another, but we will be required to stand alone and give an account of how we lived our Christian life whether for good or ill. Oh we rejoice that our citizenship is in heaven and that our eternal future is secure in Christ. Nevertheless, God expects all His children to live Godly in Christ Jesus so that the deeds we carry out in the body during our sojourn on earth, will glorify our Father Who is in heaven. Let us keep our eyes on the goal of our calling, and may the life we live in the flesh be lived by faith in the Son of God so that in all things we will be well pleasing in His sight. The call today is to look by faith beyond what we see with the natural eyes for all we see in the natural is temporary and what is seen in the realm of God’s Spirit is eternal. Eternity is a destination that is unavoidable for us ALL. How we will spend it can only be determined by our life living now!!!

Father thank You for this day and we now know that every person who has received Christ will stand before Him and give an account for the deeds they have done while in the body. Lord let Your abundant blessings fall from Your storehouses over my friend and family today. Lord we know also that Your Word has been given now to direct us in our walk so that we can have a good reward if we adhere to it. Lord help us to pursue You through Your word, understanding that it is our standard for Your evaluation of our lives. Lord we thank You that we are Your child and that there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God. Lord use my friend to be a bold witness of Your amazing grace to all today. Daddy we love You amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
