Hebrews 9:11-15
“But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.”
Hebrews 9:11-15 NIV
In this passage we see how when Jesus Christ came to die for us, He paid the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. His blood was worth more then that of a goat or calf. His death covered our sin and because He is the true High Priest. He offered up himself as a means for us to be forgiven of all of our transgressions and wrong doings.
Now, we no longer have to offer up animals as a means of confession. Our sin is dealt with and the times that we do fall, we are now able to come to Jesus Christ with an open heart, confessing our sin and receiving the free gift of His Grace and love. A scarlet stream flows through Scripture. It begins at the gates of Genesis and courses through to the end of Revelation. To usher in the new covenant, Jesus shed His blood once and for all. Destined to die from the foundations of the world, He became the scapegoat for our sin, the ultimate and final sacrifice. Man could not be saved through the blood of animals. Man could only be redeemed and reconciled to God through the shed blood of a Kinsman Redeemer, and the Son of God became Son of Man to pay that price for our sin. Having died on Calvary's Cross for our sake, He rose again, ascended into heaven, and entered the Holy place once for all, having obtained, for us, eternal redemption. It was not through the blood of bulls or calves, sheep or goats that Jesus became our holy Hight Priest, the heavenly Mediator between God and man but through the sacrificial offering of His own life and the shedding of His own blood. God was in Christ making peace between us and Himself and through Him, all who believe on His name have obtained the forgiveness of sin and eternal redemption. For those who are reading this and have not yet accepted the message of the Gospel, you’re also free to come and accept His everlasting love and grace in your life. You also have the opportunity to confess that you are in need of a loving Savior who died for your sin so that you would not have to pay the penalty. He paid a debt that we could not afford to give because there is nothing that we could have done to erase our sin. Our sin is what separates us from God and in order to bring us into an eternal loving relationship with Him, He died to show just how far He is willing to go for you and I. He is the all sufficient Savior who is still waiting for many to come to Him with a repentant and open heart, ready to receive His Grace. All you need to do is confess with your mouth and believe in you heart that Jesus died on a cross for you and was raised from death to give you eternal life in Him, the Word of God states that you shall be saved. Let’s remember that crimson, cleansing tide of Christ blood every time we participate in communion (Lord’s supper) “do this in remembrance of me.” Think of it. Because of Jesus’ death for our sake, we have eternal life with him as our inheritance. And in Christ that new life begins even now!!!
