Hebrews 13:20-21
“Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” Hebrews 13:20-21 NIV
The writer prays for two things, that God would equip us to do His Will and would work in us to make us pleasing to Him. What dangerous prayers. The writer is inviting God to do a work in our lives to make us more like Jesus since Jesus pleased God by doing His Will. This will be painful for our egos. We must, according to our power, give to the necessities of the souls and bodies of men. God will accept these offerings with pleasure, and will accept and bless the offerers through Christ.
There is no good thing wrought in us, but it is the work of God. And no good thing is wrought in us by God, but through Christ, for His sake and by His Spirit. What a beautiful prayer is being prayed for all those that are one with Christ. We do not have a distant, ineffective God but a God of peace Who made peace with us through the death of the Lord Jesus, and Who gives us His own perfect peace as we remain in fellowship with Him. We do not have a vague, impotent God, but one who is our Good Shepherd Who works on our behalf, Who guides our feet into the way of peace, and Who Himself equips us for all that we need to carry out His plan and purpose in our lives. We do not have a nebulous or disinterested God, but One that enables and equips us to carry out all that is pleasing in His sight and then rewards us for doing it, to His praise and glory. It is by His grace that we were forgiven of our sins and brought into loving fellowship with Him, and it is by His grace that we are being perfected to be conformed into the likeness of His dear Son. It is by His grace that has scheduled every day of our lives and prepared good works for us to do and it is by His grace and through His Son that this same God furnishes us with all that we need to perform our God given tasks, in the power of His Spirit, to His good pleasure. There is one thing that you can be confident about and that is that God has a plan for your life. You might feel insignificant or overlooked. You may feel misunderstood, but the truth is your feelings aren’t a true indicator. Feelings are fickle and will let you down. The truth is, you’re important. God has a plan for your life. You can be confident in that plan. God wants to see you grow in Him and accomplish good things. God’s plans are always good!!!
