Don’t be afraid just believe

‭‭Mark‬ ‭5‬:‭21‬-‭24‬, ‭35‬-‭43

“When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake. Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” So Jesus went with him. A large crowd followed and pressed around him. While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?” Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James. When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.” But they laughed at him. After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”). Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished. He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat.”

‭‭Mark‬ ‭5‬:‭21‬-‭24‬, ‭35‬-‭43‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God never calls us to blindly believe, just believe deeper, broader, and wider. Most assuredly, there are circumstances in our lives when we discover it more difficult to demonstrate great faith and trust than others. In our verses for today Jairus is experiencing just this. We must remember that our faith is built and strengthened one test or trial at a time as God proves Himself faithful and worthy to be trusted over and over again. The child of God rests soundly in the will of God no matter how hard the wind may blow. The will of God is the safest place on earth to be whether we comprehend this or not.

God is God. Because He is God, He is worthy of our trust and obedience. We will find rest nowhere but in His Holy Will, a Will that is unspeakably beyond my largest notions of what He is up to.

We learn to trust as we are given the opportunity to trust. While Satan tempts us for evil to get us to fall, God tests us for good in an effort to teach us to embrace our faith. Remember Scripture tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God, Who rewards those who earnestly seek Him.

Calling out His inner circle, His core disciples Peter, James and John they proceed to Jairus’ home. There they discover the noisy clamor of many mourners and wailers. Jesus rebukes the commotion proclaiming, the child is not dead but asleep. Lashing out with laughter and mockery mixed with jeers against our Lord, Jesus puts them out of the house.

It is quite a picture is it not of the faithful getting to remain in close proximity with the Lord while the unbelieving are thrust outside missing the eyewitness of the miraculous. There are certain great advantages of faith.

The Healer speaks a Word and with His all-powerful hand raises the dead girl up. Immediately of course, she begins walking around to the astonishment of the onlookers.

Let us think for a moment how wonderful was the change which took place in that house. From weeping to rejoicing, from mourning to congratulation, from death to life how great and marvelous must have been the transition.

They only can tell that, who have seen death face to face, and had the light of their households quenched, and felt the iron entering into their own souls. They, and they only, can conceive what the family of Jairus must have felt, when they saw their beloved one given back once more into their bosom by the power of Christ. There must have been a happy family gathering that night.

Let us see in this glorious miracle a proof of what Jesus can do for dead souls. He can raise our children from the death of trespasses and sins, and make them walk before Him in newness of life. He can take our sons and daughters by the hand, and say to them, arise, and bid them live not to themselves, but to Him that died for them and rose again.

When all seems lost, Jesus says, Just trust me. In the darkest night, Jesus says, Just trust me. While most of us know these words and find them easy to believe in church services when things are going well, they are often much tougher to believe when we find circumstances similar to what Jairus was facing.

Fear paralyzes us. Fear controls our thoughts. Fear steals away our faith. So Jesus says, Don't be afraid. Just trust me. May God give us the strength to do just that when we face troubling times!!!

Father thank You for this day and for Jesus Who is the Holy One. Lord pour out Your abundant blessings from the windows of heaven upon my friend and family today. Lord we can find strength in You. Lord we do not ask You to take away all our trials, but we say that Your will be done. Lord give us a heart that is strong enough to face the worst, a mind that forgets what is bad and a soul that shall never lose faith in You. Lord You are the giver of life and You know us better than we know ourselves. Lord You know where we are hurting or broken physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Lord pour out Your power out in us and among us that we may be healed, renewed, and strengthened. Lord use my friend to be the light of Your love to all today. Daddy we love You amen. Be a blessing. Love ya!
