Colossians‬ 1:9-12‬

“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.”

Colossians‬ 1:9-12‬ NIV‬‬

Paul knows that the Colossian Christians are living in a dangerous world as are we today. A seething volcano of false teaching has begun to erupt and engulf them, threatening to destroy the simplicity of the faith that is producing such beauty and liberty in their lives. Paul is in Rome, a prisoner in chains, and unable to travel to Colossae. There is nothing he can do physically for them. But spiritually, he is a powerful prayer warrior who can create in their midst a tremendous opportunity to know truth that will free them and enable them to withstand the assault of false teaching. That, then, is what he is doing, he is praying for them. The striking thing about this prayer is the very first sentence of it. For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. This was a continuing prayer. As far as we know, Paul had never been to Colossae. Apart from one or two among them, he did not personally know these believers. And yet he prays continually for them. Have you ever prayed for people who cut in front of you in traffic, asking God to bless them, not blast them? That is what this is suggesting that continual prayer arises constantly as a reaction to what you are going through. I am sure this explains the apostle's words here. Through the day he would think of the Colossians; how they were doing and what was threatening them, and he would breathe a prayer for them. This is what he means when he says, we have not stopped praying for you. We can pray for each other in that same wonderful way. The illuminating aspect of this is what Paul prayed for. Notice what he says asking God to fill them and us today with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Paul's intercession spans the centuries and continues to be answered by God for all who abide in Christ and trust in the Lord with all their heart. May this prayer be answered in our lives and the lives of those we love. May we live as unto the Lord, with sincere faith, Godly love and a glorious hope, that is laid up for us in heaven!!!

Father thank You for this day and the glorious gospel of grace and the wonderful truths that are contained in Your Word. Lord let Your abundant blessings flow from the floodgates of heaven upon my friend and family today. Lord Help us to abide in You and to live our lives in total dependence upon You, so that we may be fruitful in the place where you have seen fit to place us. Lord I pray that my brothers and sisters may continue to grow in grace and receive spiritual insight, so that they too may live a life that is pleasing to You. Lord use my friend to be a blessing to all that need it today. Daddy we love you amen. Be a blessing. Love you!
